“Brothers” by The Black Keys is Out Today!
For the most part, I blog about relatively unknown music. “Diamond in the rough” type stuff, but damnit, I just love The Black Keys too much to not show some praise/love/worship.
Their new album, “Brothers,” is out today. I will be pretty much sprinting to the nearest record store to get the vinyl version of it, and then sprinting all the way back home to listen to it. I was very impressed with the preview track they released some weeks back (“Tighten Up”), and loved the hilarious promo video that featured the song, “Next Girl.”
An interesting aspect of the campaign surrounding this album is that everything is so damn LITERAL. After looking at the album cover, I’m sure you’ll understand what I mean. Even right down to their Facebook ads, which attack my Facebook account nearly every day.
I guess they wanted to try the “short and sweet” approach, and spell everything out for fans to make it as easy and pain-free as possible to purchase their stuff. Personally, I liked it. But, ultimately, its their excellent music that keeps me coming back for more. Content will always be king, with promotion and marketing as its lovely queen.
