Featured Album this Week (2/21/10): “Onward Space Hologram EP” by Jet Horns

Onward Space Hologram EP by Jet Horns

This week’s featured album is some of the best free music you’ll ever wrap your ears around. I discovered this one-man powerhouse of an artist over a year ago, and I was absolutely blown away when I heard him. Seriously. I can still listen to this EP on repeat. This is truly great music, 100% free. Somebody please pay this man large sums of money to keep creating music.

Jet Horns is a one-man act out of Austin, Texas (if memory serves me right) serving up some creative electronic/dance music with the vision of placing his listeners in a “positive space environment.” The main man behind the madness, Jon Von Letscher, has this to say about his Onward Space Hologram EP…

I would say Onward Space Hologram is a direct representation of my dream projector, focused on an outer space scene including birds, lovers, islands and powdered nutrition. I forgot to mention the fashion. That will likely be in the next release.

When I listened to this EP for the first time over at Official.fm (formerly Fairtilizer at the time), my first reaction was something along the lines of “WTF just happened?” After the second listen, I was totally hooked. The beats are insane, he’s got such a unique voice, and the lyrics are trippy and fun at the same time.

If interested, I managed to dig up an old interview with Jon and Official.fm for your reading pleasure.

Nowadays, Jet Horns seems to only be active online via his Facebook page. He recently posted a SoundCloud link to a free download of his new album, “Schizofriendia” (which is probably the one I should be reviewing but oh well his first one is just too good for you not to hear), which I haven’t heard yet but will definitely download in, umm… right now.

If you like it, please download the EP (for free) and share it with your friends. They need to hear this, as do you. Brilliant job, man.
