Featured Album this Week (9/13/10): “Maru” by Silhavey

Silhavey - Maru

This week Chicago rockers Silhavey reached out to me with an e-mail, and I figured what the hell and clicked through to their website. Needless to say, I was pleased. They’ve written some really catchy, guitar-driven songs that I had to share with you all.

Silhavey is a 4-piece indie rock band that is getting a nice amount of press online, and recently nabbed a favorable review over at The Deli Magazine Chicago. Their stuff is heavily guitar-driven, but incorporates horns, organs, and lots of other fun instruments to keep it interesting. They cross over into pop with extremely catchy chorus melodies, but not too much so that I find it repetitive or boring.

Oh, and did I mention you can download the entire album for free? Yeah, go do that. Also, they have a really funny bio page, so if you’re looking for a couple laughs head over there as well.
