Featured Album this Week (7/26/10): “My Heart” by Stephen Carmichael

Notorious for his crazy live performances, this week’s featured album is a collection of awesome remixes and originals by aussie songwriter, Stephen Carmichael. At a modest 19 years of age, Stephen is writing some really cool dance music. He doesn’t yet have an album, per say, but he is currently amidst the hustle and hopes to finish it early in 2011. For now, he has a few streamable and shareable tracks up on his website for us to enjoy.
His influences reach far and wide, spanning from David Bowie to Daft Punk. I can definitely hear the influences in his remixes, and they seriously make me want to get up and “whiteboy” dance for hours. The chorus in his song “My Heart” is such a great hook, and I must have listened to the song on repeat 3-4 times.
Like me, Stephen is participating in the MSi9W Blog Challenge, and he just recently posted his results for Week 2, which can be found here. I really enjoy the pitch he came up with for his music, which was:
“Stephen Carmichael sounds like MGMT, intertwined with the beats of Daft Punk and the uniqueness of David Bowie; think Indie and dance music colliding in an electronic battle with pop music! Think Shock POP!!”
On Stephen’s website, you can register and get exclusive access to more music downloads, create your own profile, upload photos and videos, and much more! And if you’re a musician wondering how he created the website all by himself, with little coding knowledge, go here.
