Featured Album this Week (11/1/10): “Side 1″ by Absinthe and the Dirty Floors

I honestly haven’t the slightest clue how I came across this largely unknown indie rock band from Chicago, IL, but Absinthe and the Dirty Floors had me completely floored after listening to the entire album without pause on their website’s streaming music player.
Absinthe and the Dirty Floors began in February 2009 as a single-album project by Jessica Risker. She recorded and produced the entire album in her apartment, for the sole purpose of entering it into the RPM Challenge. Next thing she knew, she had people contacting her who were interested in forming a band around the album, and so it began.
They have been somewhat dormant lately, but they do have a show coming up on November 11th in Chicago, which is a record release party with a couple other bands (Hollus, The Sweeps).
Here’s the flyer:

I bought their 4-song album on iTunes. I recommend you do the same.
