Featured Album this Week (11/22/10): “Tiger Suit” by KT Tunstall

KT Tunstall is an award-winning songwriter out of the U.K. signed to Relentless Records (Virgin), and she writes music with a really fresh combination of indie rock and danceable pop. Before recording this album in Berlin’s legendary Hansa studios, she took a year off to write these songs and record demos in her solar-powered home studio, and collaborated with a couple songwriters in the United States to amass a collection of 75 songs to choose from for her latest album, “Tiger Suit.”
Tiger Suit is eleven songs long, an album with a ton of energy and depth, and you can tell that KT really put her whole self into this project. There is a definite dance feel about the songs, but there is no artificial instrumentation (KT refers to it as “nature techno”). I hear influences from all over the place, and KT actually has a few top 10 lists on her website that help to paint a picture of what she’s into at the moment. “Glamour Puss” is easily my favorite track on the album, it has loads of danceable energy, think Muse and The Ting Tings mashed together.
Check out KT’s website here, and hit up iTunes for purchase if you can dig it.
