How to Not Get Screwed by the Music Business [E-BOOK]

How Not To Get Screwed by the Music Business

I came across an article by Jeff Price on the Tunecore blog entitled “The Emergence of The New Music Industry – It’s Global, Generates A Lot Of Money & Is Based On Six Copyrights.” It’s quite a lofty article, but somewhere in the middle he provides a link to a real gem of an e-book that I think all musicians should consider reading over at least once.

Tunecore publishes a running series of “Music Industry Survival Manuals,” and the one Jeff links to in this article is called “How Not to Get Screwed: The Six Legal Rights that Drive the Music Business.”

Click here to download the PDF for free.

The manual of chock full of amazing information regarding all of the legal bullshit musicians must wade through in the music. There are six areas of copyright that musicians should be concerned with and have at least a basic understanding of, and you can develop that understanding by reading this e-book. I’m slightly embarrassed to admit it, but I learned a lot of new stuff after reading this book. Legal jargon is an enormous turn-off for me, but this manual does a great job of explaining everything in layman’s terms.

Download it, read it, let it sink in, and get back to writing some kick ass music.
