Combining Music, Charity, Food, Artwork, and Fun: The Pantry Party

The Pantry Party logo

People just keep blowing my mind these days. Because of all the disorder and disarray, there are so many cool, new ideas and endeavors popping up in the music industry. Bands are reinventing their shows, connecting with their fans on a more personal level, and even asking them to get involved in the creative process. This event dropped right into my Facebook feed the other day, and combines music, food, multiple art forms, and community service into one heck of an experience.

The Pantry Party is a monthly event that collects canned goods and raises money for local food pantries that are struggling to keep up because of the recent economic downturn. The event is also on a mission to reignite support of local music and artists in these same areas. I think that The Pantry Party is an incredible idea because it encourages community members to get out and support endeavors that will directly enrich their town.

Patrons even save $1 off the admission price for every can of food or new notebook that they bring. Its $10 to get in, so bring 10 cans of food and you get to experience it all for FREE. It doesn’t get any better than that. Helping your community is important, but it definitely doesn’t mean that you can’t have some fun while doing it!

They host events all over the New York/New Jersey area. If live around here, I highly encourage you to grab some extra cans of food from your house, and come by to help your community by supporting great local artists.

Here is a short list of some bands and artists that have rocked past shows:
